Project 2029 is now We Are NEXT™
Why the change? Because the name we started with, Project 2029, was being confused with other organizations that are similarly named. We Are NEXT™ more clearly communicates that our mission is powered by everyday Americans just like you to build what comes next for America.
We remain an independent, nonpartisan volunteer group dedicated to rebuilding democracy from the ground up.
We Are NEXT is an all-volunteer organization that defines and advances public policies to support human well-being, uphold the Constitution and hold government accountable. We are turning outrage into action and ready to build what comes next, in 2029 and beyond––a more perfect union that provides freedom, opportunity and security for all.
A Blueprint for 2029 & Beyond
The We Are NEXT agenda shifts the focus from outrage to action. It doesn't just say no to the injustices of the present; it says yes to a future worth fighting for.
We don't define ourselves by what we oppose. Instead, we are defined by what we propose for a democracy that works for all — structural reforms and a citizen-powered blueprint.
A democracy that works for everyone is not inherited — it is built, strengthened and defended, generation by generation.
We’re setting out to create a country where people thrive. We recognize that small, incremental changes won’t cut it. Our bold plans focus on fairness, dignity, and justice for all. They demand structural reform, not just temporary relief.
Hope, Not Despair
Despair paralyzes. Hope mobilizes. Instead of lamenting the state of the world; We Are NEXT is about envisioning and building a better one. It’s about the world we can create when we stop merely resisting and start leading.

Make a Difference
We Are NEXT is a grassroots, citizen-led effort to reclaim our democracy. We are not affiliated with or supported by any political party or political action group (PAC). Our organizers are all unpaid. We do this work because of our civic and moral values, and our hope for America. We are registered as a 501(c)(4).
